Mission and History of CFES

College For Every Student (CFES) is a nonprofit organization that helps underserved students take steps to prepare for, gain access to, and succeed in college.

CFES grew out of the National College Counseling Project (NCCP), a three-year study launched in 1983 and supported by the National Association for College Admission Counseling. The study identified practices that raised aspirations and increased educational opportunities for underserved students through school-college partnerships. Within three years, NCCP boosted college-going by 50 percent in eleven high schools in the Florida Panhandle. Similar gains were achieved in nine low-income high schools in the Southeast partnering with colleges.

Since its founding in 1991, CFES has helped more than 100,000 underserved youth in 700 schools nationwide raise academic performance and aspirations, graduate from high school, and pursue college.
