College For Every Student National Conference

Team CFES

Giving underserved youth a running start

Team CFES is a talented and energetic group of young professionals who volunteer and raise money to help underserved students get to college and be successful there. One hundred percent of every dollar raised goes directly to programs that support CFES scholars, 90 percent of whom live at or below the poverty line.

In 2009, our inaugural year, 35 runners logged over 6,000 miles in training for and running in the Marine Corps Marathon and 10K in Washington D.C. and raised $60,000 from 650 individuals.

Team CFES will prove its strength once again in 2010 by going back to DC on Sunday October 31 with the same goal in mind, only this time with more feet on the ground.

We plan to recruit 160 runners and volunteers who all share one common goal: helping underserved students get to and through college.

Since its founding in 1991, CFES has worked with 540 public schools to help thousands of underserved students in grades K-12 take steps toward college through an approach that emphasizes mentoring, school-college partnerships, and student leadership programs. The need for College For Every Student (CFES) is greater today more than ever.
