About the Summit
More than ever, educators and employers across the globe see college and career readiness as a critical part of student success. But the readiness movement often inspires more questions than answers. Do college and career forces complement or compete with one another? Is college and career readiness a fad, or is it a sustainable movement? Is a traditional liberal arts program compatible with the 21st-century job market?
Even the very definition of college and career readiness is up for debate – leading to much of the confusion and contradiction at the core of the movement.
The 2017 Summit, sponsored by College For Every Student, Trinity College Dublin and the GE Foundation, will focus on defining what readiness is, answering these persistent questions and developing strategies to help our young people reach not only their educational goals, but their career ones as well.
The College & Career Readiness Summit will gather 50 corporate, philanthropic, and higher education leaders and policy makers from around the world at the CFES Center in Essex, N.Y. Education and workforce experts will discuss the intersection of college and career readiness with participants who will play an active role in contributing to the discussion through panels and roundtables. Following the Summit, the organizers will produce a solutions-driven white paper on strategic steps to ensure college and career readiness in the new industrial age, while developing awareness and investment among key corporate and education leaders and policy makers.
